In 2012, the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders established the Warren County Economic Development Advisory Council and gave it the following charge: To create a stable, positive economic environment for Warren County through cooperation with county departments, government agencies, and businesses; to implement smart strategic growth; and to influence economic policy decisions in Warren County. Toward this effort, over the last three years, the WCEDAC has held economic summits for local business leaders, assisted municipal officials with state and local economic development resources, and advocated for business growth through state and federal legislators.

That brings us to what you are reading right now. It is not enough that we are working on all of these tasks, we also need a resource to communicate what is going on. To that purpose, we have established a website and an e-newsletter to let you know what is going on with regards to economic development in Warren County, and how you can take advantage of the resources we have to offer.

It is also through this venue that we can tell you the great things the Board of Chosen Freeholders is doing to improve the economic climate in Warren County. For example, the Freeholders along with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension office recently hired a new County Agricultural Agent, Kenesha Reynolds-Allie, who is focusing on one of Warren County's biggest economic drivers, agricultural business marketing and tourism. Please join me in welcoming Kenesha to Warren County.

The Freeholders also are working on an effort to improve transportation services in and out of the county. Along with the NJDOT and Hunterdon County we are working to extend bus service along the Route 31 corridor, all the way to the park and ride lot in Clinton Township. There, additional buses can take passengers into Hunterdon County or along other routes such as to Newark Airport. And, as Washington Borough Mayor Scott McDonald pointed out at the recent Washington BID meeting, it will bring people into Warren County to enjoy our services here as well.

Thank you for taking the time to visit here. Please make sure to register to continue to receive this important informational tool. I look forward to continuing to work with the EDAC to bring a strong sustainable economic climate to Warren County.
